Green Centre Essen, West

The university district with its Green Centre vitalises the northern city centre with large lawn areas, playgrounds and gastronomy. The 4-ha park extends in the north right to the "Rheinische Bahn" cycle path; the large water axis connects Berliner Platz and Rheinischer Platz. The green campus of the Duisburg-Essen University is situated behind it – thus creating a direct green link to the city centre. The park was planned by the landscape architects' office, scape. The trade magazine, "immobilienmanager", presented the university district with the immobilienmanager.AWARD 2013. Everyone involved agreed: the new Essen city district was the clear winner in the urban development category.
